Aaron Murphy performed as a musician and ballet dancer before finding the world of theater. While in his first acting class at City College of San Francisco, taught by Stephen Drewes, he carried a “Drop Class” form in his notebook, lest the challenge of acting prove too great...He went on to complete a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts in Acting, graduating with honors from U.C. Santa Barbara. Appearing throughout the Bay Area, he has focused on contemporary writers who inspire him most, acting in plays by Mamet, Pinter, Shanley, Stoppard, Chekhov, and Ibsen. In late 2007 he and his former teacher, now friend, Stephen Drewes, co-produced the Bay Area premieres of Harold Pinter’s Ashes to Ashes and Brian Friel’s Afterplay. This modest beginning led to forming Spare Stage. Murphy also works as a coach and trainer, and recently assisted in the founding the Flying Actor Studio, a school devoted to physical theatre. | |
